Classes

Mom & Me
A weekly 75 minute program for Moms or Dads and their toddlers (14 to 24 months by October 31st). This class introduces toddlers to socialization and to the Nursery School. Classes meet Tuesday or Thursday  from 9:15 to 10:30 am.

2’s in Training
Two’s in Training is a new class for us. It is for children who turn 2 by January 30. The class meets two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) from 9:15AM – 11:00AM. Starting in late October, an adult stays with the child until January, when we begin our separation process. This program helps the children prepare for our regular 2’s class the following school year.

2 Year Olds
Our 2 Year Old Program, which meets from 9:00 to 11:30 am, has a maximum of 10 students per class with two staff members. The curriculum includes Music, Art, Literature and more, with a focus on socialization. We offer a two-day (any two days except Thursday), three-day (MWF) and four-day (MTWF) program. Shabbat is celebrated every week.

3 Year Olds
Our 3 Year Old Program meets every morning from 9:00 to 11:30 am. Children are encouraged to attend a minimum of three morning sessions. Building on their growing skill base, the 3 year olds' diverse curriculum includes: Music, Art, Literature, Spanish, Science and Sports with Coach Rick. A supervised lunch program is available daily from 11:30 to 12:15 pm. A DAIRY or PARVE lunch must be provided by the parents. Children may leave after lunch or opt to attend one or more of our exciting afternoon programs which run until 2:00 pm each day. They include: Monday-Lunch & Literature, story-time with a related, hands-on project; Tuesday-Science & Fun, with interactive activity in discovery and experimentation; Wednesday-Music & More, an introduction to musical concepts, instrument-making, and vocals; Thursday-Creative Drama, children read and learn how to interpret and act out stories; and Friday- Budding Artists, a creative class where children work in mixed media.

4 Year Olds
Our core 4 Year Old program meets every morning from 9:00 to 11:30 am. Children must attend a minimum of three morning sessions. Our 4's curriculum includes specialty classes in Hebrew, Music, Sports and Jewish Learning. On Wednesday mornings we offer Sports with Coach Rick. Throughout the year, special field trips, chaperoned by parents and teachers, are planned. Plus, 4 year olds participate in our Enrichment Program, which provides individualized learning in small group settings. Lunch is available every day from 11:30 to 12:15 pm, and children may leave after lunch or opt to attend our afternoon program, which runs until 2:45 pm Monday through Thursday. The afternoon curriculum builds upon the morning classes. On Fridays we offer Lunch & Literature, an exciting program including art, literature and yoga for kids, ending at 2 pm. Children must register for a minimum of two afternoon sessions not including Fridays.

Kindergarten Enrichment
Extend your 5 year old child’s half-day kindergarten program with this popular option. Select one to five afternoon sessions each week. Classes include: Artists and their Works, Weaving and Puppetry, American Heroes, Science, Children’s Literature and much more.

 

Specials
Specials are additional programs offered after school. Each program requires separate enrollment from the regular registration process. Please see the Forms Page to enroll.

Shabbat
Shabbat is celebrated every Friday in the classroom. Each child has a chance to be the “Shabbat Child” on a rotating basis. We invite the parents and any other guests to join their child when it is their turn. Prayers are said over the challah, candles and wine. During the school year, our 3’s and 4’s gather together several times as a group to sing songs and celebrate Shabbat.

Bible Buddies
A great half-hour addition to your 2 year old’s morning. They’ll love this creative drama class based on Bible stories.

Musically 2s
A fun-filled 30 minute class of music and dance designed to gradually lengthen the separation time for your 2 year old. This program begins after Winter Recess.

Dress for a Mess
An hour of messy fun plus lunch for your 2 or 3 year old. Students explore different media such as clay, tempera, finger-paint and silly putty. This class emphasizes the process NOT the product.

Hebrew Immersion
We are thrilled to offer our 3s a Hebrew language immersion program created by the Melton Center of the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC. We are one of a handful of schools to receive a grant allowing us to offer this program. Studies have shown that children who are exposed to a second language at a young age will not only learn that language but will demonstrate enhanced intellectual prowess and academic growth in all areas.

Israeli Dance
Great fun for girls and boys in our 3s and 4s programs, this class meets for a half-hour of instruction on Tuesday and Friday afternoons after school.

After School Sports
After school sports classes are offered for our 3’s and 4’s. Tennis and general sports including basketball, baseball, soccer and football are offered either from 2:00PM – 2:45PM for our 3’s or 3:00PM – 3:45PM for our 4’s.

Signing Fingers
Teach your child the basics of American Sign Language through new and innovation ideas. This class is for hearing children.

Hebrew Immersion Language Program
This program is taught with the teacher speaking exclusively in Hebrew. Within a few weeks three or four year old children are able to understand simple sentences. The goal of this class is to understand and speak Hebrew fluently.
