It can be so confusing! Health insurance, advanced directives, prescription plans, medical proxies. If you are at or approaching Medicare age, come to a workshop, Health Matters, on June 20, to better understand all the options and forms that significantly impact your health. We will hear from Medicare specialists, SHIP volunteers, including our own Burt Henry, tell us about the options and offer free one-on-one counsel to help-you make the best decisions. He is a state trained volunteer specialist in Medicare and Medigap insurance, and isn't selling anything. His job is to present and explain the various plans and make arrangements for private consultations. I will explain how a Living Will, or Advanced Directive, provides for the unforeseen medical situation if you become suddenly incapacitated. I will have copies of two documents and will discuss how to make a personalized plan that best represents your wishes and values in the case of such a medical crisis.
