For all students Pre-K - 12th grade

PRE-K THROUGH SECOND GRADES:

B'Yachad with Brittany (Pre-K):  B'Yachad (Together) parent/student is a program designed for families with preschool-age children. Children will enjoy crafts, games, and songs while learning about Jewish holidays and values. Parents will also have adult time to discuss ways of engaging their children in Jewish holidays. Members: $190; Non-Members: $380.
Class Dates: 9/14, 10/26, 11/23, 12/14, 1/11, 2/8, 3/1 (Purim Carnival), 3/29 and 4/26
 
Shabbat in Pajamas and Sweats:
This is a monthly Friday night primary program for families. We begin at 5:00 pm with a child-friendly meal, followed by stories and games for our Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade participants. The evening is led by Susan Werk (Education Director), along with Rabbi Lucas, Cantor Caplan, and Religious School staff
 
Israeli Dance with Ellen Berkowitz: Children of all ages and stages enjoy learning Israeli dancing in a fun, exciting way. Weekly classes are held on Sundays with times varying by age groups. Performances throughout the year both in our area and beyond.
 

Ananim (K-2nd Grade): Sundays 11:30am-12:15pm; Members $150; Non-Members $250

Shemesh (3rd-5th Grades): Sundays 12:15pm-1:15pm; Members $200; Non-Members $300

Kochavim (6th-9th Grades): Sundays 10:30am-11:30am; Members $250; Non-Members $350

Tov M'od Choir with Cantor Caplan: This program is designed to nurture the children who participate and share a love of Jewish music and of singing with a group.  The choir performs in local nursing homes, at community gatherings and at Shabbat services.

Chaverim: A social group for Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade students. Meeting six to seven times during the school year, programs and trips are designed to foster friendships among children.  Many of our students attend different schools, and live in different neighborhoods. These activities provide a venue where Jewish friendships can be nurtured while performing acts of kindness (chesed), experience a trip or even bake for holidays

THIRD THROUGH 6TH GRADES:

Tov M'od Choir with Cantor Caplan: This program is designed to nurture the children who participate and share a love of Jewish music and of singing with a group.  The choir performs in local nursing homes, at community gatherings and at Shabbat services.
 
Torah Chug with Nancy Caplan: Participants learn the basic Torah trope (cantillation symbols) and how to read Torah.  Students voluntarily take a verse (or more) and work with teenagers and staff members to learn their assigned reading, which will be chanted later at a service.
 
Chalutzim (Youth Group): A social group for Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade students. 
Many of our students attend different schools, and live in different neighborhoods. These activities provide a venue where Jewish friendships can be nurtured while performing acts of kindness, experiencing a trip or even learning a new skill. Chalutzim meets six to seven times during the year with programs and trips designed to foster friendships among children.
 
 

SEVENTH THROUGH 12TH GRADES:

7th & 8th Grade (Gesher) Program: Wednesdays, twice monthly from 6:15-7:30pm. Topics based on student interest, current events and community service opportunities. Pizza dinner is included.
Dates for program: 9/10, 9/17, 10/22, 11/5, 11/19, 12/3, 12/17, 1/7, 1/21, 2/4, 2/25, 3/11, 3/25, 4/15, 4/29, 5/13
Cost for Program: Members: $410 and Non-Members: $820.

8th & 9th Grade Girls (Moving Traditions/Rosh Hodesh) Groups: Led by Rabbi Paula Mack Drill, Rosh Hodesh welcomes in the new Jewish month. The group meets once a month, at rotating member's homes. The 8th and 9th graders will meet on different days.  Please see schedule below.

The 8th grade girls will meet at 7pm on the following dates: September 16 (The first meeting with Susan Werk and Rabbi Paula Mack Drill, for moms and daughters, to be held at CAI), October 21, November 18, December 16, January 20, February 10, March 17, April 7, May 19.

The 9th grade girls will meet at 7pm on the following dates: October 19, November 16, December 7, January 25, February 8, March 8, April 26, May 17.

Cost of Program: Members: $250 and Non-Members: $500.

10th-12th Grades (Better to Serve) Program:  Our Better to Serve Program engages high school students in learning about the Jewish tradition of service and the needs of our community through collaborative classroom lessons and hands-on community service. Once students have completed the first year of the curriculum, they are invited to join our Leadership Team, which helps plan and lead community service opportunities. Past volunteer sites include Daughters of Israel and Toni's Kitchen, as well as events at CAI, including Rise Against Hunger, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service for the Religious School, food drives, and a children's book drive.

9th-12th Grades AZA (Boys of BBYO): Student led youth group; meets monthly; dates TBD

9th-12th Grades BBG (Girls of BBYO): Student led youth group; meets monthly; dates TBD

Religious School Teen Volunteers: Students are invited to volunteer in our religious school on a weekly, monthly, or event basis.
