ECC Materials Workshop

Next year we look forward to expanding our use of loose parts with the creation of a Materials Center. Parents will partner with us by collecting materials, organizing them and bringing them to use in the classrooms.

To explore this further we will have a workshop in school on June 27th at 12:00.

The workshop will be an opportunity for the community to learn about the value of open-ended objects in young children’s development and learning, and the role it plays in fostering language fluency, creative thinking, and collaborative learning.

Robin Koo is the Program Director of Teaching Beyond the Square and the Coordinator for The Materials Center, which is based in New York City. She will share examples of how children engage with open-ended materials, guide parents and teachers in hands-on experiences with materials, and will pave the way for the development of CAI’s Materials Resource Room as a catalyst for deeper learning and connection for the new school year.
