Instructor: Professor James Flynn Department Chair and Associate Professor Theology/Philosophy – Caldwell University.
A discussion of the similarities and differences between Western and Eastern philosophy. We focus on Eastern philosophies in terms of their claims to be a guide for life and goodness. Specifically, we will examine the philosophy of Confucius and the major thinkers within his tradition. We will examine the philosophy of Lao Tse and Taoism. We will investigate the philosophical connections and challenges in engagement with Buddhist and Hindu thought.
