Wednesday, November 13, 2019 15 Cheshvan 5780

7:45 PM - 10:00 PMAdult Lounge

Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara was honored as a "Righteous Gentile" for risking his career and future to save more than 6,000 Jews. In March 1939, Sugihara was sent to open a consulate in the Lithuanian capital of Kaunas. From July 31 to August 28, 1940, he sat for hours writing visas by hand for desperate Jews. Sugihara said, "I may have to disobey my government, but if I don't, I would be disobeying God." Today, it is estimated that the descendants of the "Sugihara Survivors" number some 40,000 Jews. A movie that captures the greatness and courage of one man.

Thanks to a generous donation from Michael and Barbara Erlichman, we have the oppourtunity to celebrate our rich Jewish heritage through film. Screenings of dramas, comedies, and documentaries will be followed by discussions.
