We are moving to Peoplehood, the last section of our Shalom Hartman Institute curriculum entitled "Foundations for a Thoughtful Judaism".

Judaism is multi-layered in that it is both rooted in ideology (religion) and in family ties (peoplehood). We will be exploring foundational questions about the interaction between ideology and heredity by considering the role of Jewish peoplehood in Jewish life: What is the relationship between being a member of a people and being a member of a religious group? What tensions arise between Judaism as a peoplehood and as a religion? How does one navigate commitments to one’s own people as well as commitments to the broader world and all people? We will be covering these questions and much more!

Please complete the form below. You will receive a confirmation email with the Zoom meeting information.
