Newark Water Crisis

FROM THE CAI SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE:

Our Neighbors in Newark Desperately Need Water.

Newark is experiencing a water crisis due to lead contamination in pipes that will take years to replace. According to the E.P.A. “any exposure to lead is dangerous, particularly for children, as exposure can lead to serious damage to the brain, central nervous system, slowing growth and causing behavioral problems. In adults, lead exposure can lead to kidney, heart, and reproductive system issues”. A City emergency water distribution plan is underway, but there is not enough water to go around. The poorest residents are most at risk.

CAI’s Social Action Committee can make an important difference as Newark faces this crisis. You can help by making a contribution that will be used to purchase pallets of bottled water and ship them to the city’s distribution sites.

The Social Action Committee will continue to track the situation in Newark and keep the congregation apprised of what we can do to help. Until then, please join us in this act of Tikkun Olam.

If you prefer to send a check:
Please make checks payable to Congregation Agudath Israel or CAI with "Social Action - Newark" in the memo. Mail to 20 Academy Road, Caldwell, NJ 07006

I/We would like to make a contribution in the amount below:
